Manchester Chargers and Fully Charged Events are proud to once again host the ‘Manchester Mayhem’ mixed Touch rugby social league in 2018.

This summer was a great year of Touch Rugby in Manchester, with over 30 teams competing and we’d love for YOU to be a part of our latest league!

Whether it’s about rediscovering sport or honing your fitness, Touch (Rugby) is a fun and friendly environment for both men and women and juniors of all abilities to get involved.

Overview

Touch Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the country with over 25,000 people playing regularly nationwide.

Touch can be played by all genders, skill and ages alike, making it one of, if not the most inclusive sport in the world. While it is most commonly thought of as a ‘warm up’ game for Rugby, Touch has its own governing body as well as a World Cup and has now established itself firmly both here in the UK as a sport and across Europe in its own right.

2018 will see England host the European Touch Championships, and 18 countries have confirmed their participation, more countries than compete in the Rugby World Cup!

England Touch is currently working on getting more younger players involved in the sport starting at the basic level and going all the way through to international representation. There are several pathways that aids this progression, from schools programmes through to club competitions and regional representative teams.

Junior Touch League

Manchester Chargers and Fully Charged Events are proud to announce a new league for 2018 that is solely aimed at Juniors aged 11 – 16.

On Wednesday afternoons for six weeks between May 2nd and June 6th there will be a league format for 11-16 year old teams for boys and girls. Unlike other forms of Rugby, Touch can be played by all ages, so these teams are open to all players aged 16 and under, not just the one age group.

Date: 2nd May – 6th June

Entry Fee: We have set an entry price at just £150 (just £2.50 per player, per week for a team of 10).

Venue: Burnage RFC (Varley Park, Battersea Rd, Stockport SK4 3EA)

Divisions: Mixed Teams.

This league will aid the development of younger players and can further the progression of those who take part from school. The league will offer qualified coaches and referees who will help players out by offering tips in the game to further their progression.

Individuals – Looking for a team
Individuals are also very welcome to enter and we can find you a team to play in for the season.

The League is designed to develop young players and allow them to develop in a safe environment. For those interested this is a great beginning to the Regional and National Selection pathways.

An excellent finals night in Manchester on Wednesday 29th July.

Both divisions have seen some excellent displays of Touch in the past 10 weeks and both divisions went down to the very last game of the season to decide the winner!

It was decided that it would be a ‘winner takes all’ final, a great intense game with both sides having seasoned professionals playing. It was the mixture of youth and experience of the Hit and Run team that edged their 8-6 win in a climactic finalè.

Runners up – 2 Fresh

10 teams took to the fields with a range of background from rugby players to solicitor firms and from groups of friends/colleagues to corporate sponsored teams.

The penultimate game saw Havas Lynx lose to a well drilled Oldham Rufc side, which put pressure on 2nd in the table, Ganked, who had to win their final game to be in with a chance of their title hopes.

A strong Ganked team went on to beat Bees and it was a tense few minutes as the officials counted up the for/against scores. But some big scoring early season games set Ganked in good stead to clinch the title!

2015 is a year of change for Touch (Rugby) in Manchester and we’d love for you to be a part of it!

With the weather steadily improving and warming up we’re all ready to go again for another great summer of Touch in Manchester.

We are running two Touch Leagues this summer, one at our home club of Burnage RFC and another at our partner club Altrincham Kersal RFC.

Burnage League

Date: The league will start on Wednesday 3rd June

Entry Fee: We have set an entry price at just £325. A deposit of £100 is required to guarantee your teams place.

Altrincham Kersal

Date: The league starts on Monday 1st June

Entry Fee: We have set an entry price at just £275. A deposit of £100 is required to guarantee your teams place.
